    Not my week, apparently.

Woman drove straight through a red light at the pedestrian crossing I was about to step out into on Lasswade Road today. Closest call that I can recall having as a pedestrian.

Six children are in hospital in Oxford after a BMW collided with the people carrier in which they were travelling.

Thames Valley police said officers tried to stop a car driving “erratically” at high speed on the city’s eastern bypass at 11.10pm on Tuesday.

The BMW failed to stop and five minutes later collided with a black VW Touran being driven along the Slade in Headington.

Edinburgh Cowgate crash: Two children among five taken to hospital after Cowgate crash sees car a driver hit pedestrians

A man has been arrested after a car driver struck four pedestrians and crashed into a taxi

Sadly, Halloween being the day that the highest number of children are killed and injured by drivers across the world.

The Cowgate was shut for months, why can't it be kept shut for goodness sake?

Apologies to the cyclist in Fife who I probably gave a fright to on Saturday. I'd slowed the car I was driving behind him, and thought I had time for an overtake, accelerated, and then a car appeared coming the other way and I had to break sharply to slot in behind the cyclist again. I don't think I even got particularly close to him, but I don't think I'd have been happy if I'd been on the receiving end of my driving.

The cyclist turned left at the next junction. If I'd known the road, I wouldn't have even tried to overtake where I did, because there was a massive straight round the corner after that.

This is the trouble with not driving very often, I'm not very competent or confident when I do, but not driving at all isn't really an option in current circumstances.

As if to prove a point, a private hire ham shanker starting hurling abuse at me for "jumping" the lights at the top of MMW (I didn't, they are green for bikes at the same time as they are green for cars on Teviot Place.)

He then accused me of not riding in the bike lane (apparently that's mandatory according to the Highway Code that I should read!). I was riding in the bike lane, I pulled out to overtake another private hire anchor who'd stopped abruptly in front of me.

He then went bleat bleat bleat, "I have to look in my mirrors..."

"Yeah, you do mate, as operator of heavy dangerous machinery"

The altercation took place over 4 stops (he got "lucky" with the lights), all with a female passenger. I hope she won't be using his services again, as he isn't fit to be a cabbie.

At the fourth stop, he'd stopped on the yellow boxed junction, blocking the tram blocking 100s of passengers. I asked him who should be reading the Highway Code.

So sick of this pile of steaming doo.

<Rule 2> cars and all that they stand for, they're ruining this city.

Oh, and I would post a video of the stationary traffic jam the entire length of Melville Drive, if I could on this forum...

The sheriff told Knox: “This is a serious matter where the vehicle lost control after you jumped out of it.”

Naughty vehicle, should have kept itself under control instead of having a tantrum.

Not quite sure why they went with the 'footballer' aspect given he's at best semi-pro based on his previous clubs:
(Looks like largely Juniors/EoS Seniors to me)

'Knox, who has played as a striker for teams including Arniston Rangers, Whitehill Welfare, Tweedmouth Rangers and Craigroyston, appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Wednesday.'

A Lothian airport bus could also be seen with its hazards on and several officers could be seen speaking to individuals on the pavement of Glasgow Road.

Although the incident looks to have been confined to the bus lane area of the road, Edinburgh Traffic News reported that there was some congestion relating to the crash in the area.

As I was waiting to turn right at Roseburn, I was passed by a motorist engaged in a video call. Phone was in a holder blocking the view for the driverist.

Seems like a pretty good fit for today's rubbish sentencing. Should the standard required for a blue light driver not be higher rather than lower than A.N. Other?

It was the Leadburn junction, in case anyone else was struggling to figure it out from the article.

Small, silver Honda in the Haymarket / Roseburn area has been seen aggressively shouting at cyclists.

He did this on Russell Road this morning, pulling over and then shouting at the cyclist to come over to his car.

He did it in Balbirnie Place a couple of weeks ago, witnessed by my wife and youngest son while cycling to school. My son told me after we'd left the scene this morning so I wasn't able to challenge the driver then.

After the Balbirnie Place incident, he reversed away fast from the first cyclist towards my wife and son on their bicycles, causing her to scream. She then told him to be careful which caused him to rage and threaten her.

She didn't get his reg no then but I got it this morning and filed it with Police Scotland. You never know, might get to the local community officer who may have time to look at it. That's at least three cyclist he's threatened this month.

    Wee nyaff.

As an early Christmas present I took advantage of their Black Friday sale to buy a new Cycliq. Didn't take long to get some bad driving on camera though if you're going to drive like a cretin probably best not doing it in a classic car with a personalised plate J888 SYD:

Edinburgh’s Chief Superintendent Sean Scott says police will not be able to respond to "lower hanging fruit" crimes if the Scottish Government do not increase funding for the force. He said: “We’re talking about lower level vandalisms, we’re talking about damage to cars, lower level road traffic offences where there’s no injuries.”
    - Donald Turvill, Local Democracy Reporter in The Edinburgh Reporter

So basically no enforcement of anything unless you crash. FFS this country

And if the government gives them more money specifically ring fenced top slope then to create a system which makes it simpler to prosecute since if these crimes... They'll refuse to do it.

Got beeped at by the beepy fumey people again.

    For taking the lane.

On a blind corner where clowns often overtake into oncoming traffic. The beepy fumey person got stuck at the next set of lights (quelle surprise!)

Mental note to self: Always take the lane. Always.

We need a “todays complete lack of personal responsibility” thread I think!

Don't even think that's a personal responsibility issue so much as a thickie/chucking a strop issue - interesting that the article waits until the very last paragraph to post the AA's response that includes the information that had they simply taken the paid tow option, it would have been refunded once they provided proof the tax was paid before the first call in.

They chose to freeze their danglies off in a car all night, no doubt because "it's the principle of the fing innit".

Anything for clicks - and it's working as it made me post it here!

All good points Yodhrin. I guess the easy way out (paid tow) wouldn't have got the same social media lols. (I've never known the DVLA website not to upate more or less instantly if taxing online but that's an aside..)

They appear to have gone up Gleniffer Braes to decompress after boiler issue sim the cold and found to their great surprise it was snowing?
