Best ring them with that one. The last time I reported one electrically for threatening people (as witnessed from within) they didn't reply for at least a week, risking the footage having expired by the time they got round to investigating.

White BMW soft top (Y6 MSR) pased too close on Mountcastle. Strong smell of cannabis emanating from the vehicle.
Caught up as he turned right from Northfield Broadway into Portobello Road. Driver observed cradling a joint in his lap.
Reported via email to LBP this morning. Did think about 999ing him.

Would almost be worth carrying a small powder fire extinguisher just for that moment. "I'm sorry sir, but I did think your crotch was ablaze..."

Person in car that wasn't as fast as he'd like.

I'm drifting into the right hand turny filtery lane and hear said individual a little too close and revvy behind me, so I took a firm primary to make it completely obvious where I'm going. He then overtakes but turns out not to be turning right, so once he was a fair distance ahead, he cut all the way across my lane into the straight ahead one.

The straight ahead lane had been entirely empty the whole time, but the thing that really amazed me was that he gave me a fairly decent amount of room - it was a full lane swapping overtake, so he really was right in the path of the oncoming cars. Seriously endangered himself and the oncoming drivers, but only raised my risk level a wee bit. He was maybe a little less far ahead than I'd like when he cut across, but I didn't have to take evasive action to avoid being left hooked or anything.

..was delivered by the cyclist on the towpath at Harrison Gardens who shouted abuse at a couple of pedestrians when they failed to jump smartly aside when he rang his bell (again). They were blameless IMO.

Everyone else was enjoying a stroll/cycle/jog in the sun, but someone had to spoil it.

I fear there will be conflict between pedestrians and cyclists on the CTP which will end badly...

It's disappointing. I went home via the canal today for the first time in something like five months; horrible weather, so it wasn't fully through choice.

It struck me that a pretty high proportion of the pedestrians more or less leapt out my way on reflex. I say reflex since I suspect they've gained that response from many a hurtler, whereas without it they'd more likely have seen just how leisurely my got the afternoon off so let's not break sweat pace was and taken their time.

Yeah I've observed similar responses, especially when i'm doing my: post swim, my legs hurt to b@* but its a nice day so I don't mind being over taken by runners, pace.

    Sad really but completely understandable.

Lots of people now using towpath for commuting -

    Needs 'respect'/mutual understanding.

It's a shame path isn't wider where it could be.

It's a pity there is no 'agreed' way of using a bell.

'We' can't even agree (various threads).

    'Discovered' a 'new' method yesterday.

I tend to ping once from some way off. Yesterday I pinged so hard that it was really loud so I put my finger on bell to stop it reverberating!

Ping/don't ping - either way don't pass too close, too fast.

Clearly some people do and believe they have RIGHT of way.

Makes it worse for everyone else.

OK chdot, how did you get up there?

Can't quite read the notice, is that the one that sets the speed limit at 6MPH?

Almost wish you'd just posted the first picture, and we could have had a 'guess who ended up in the canal' competition...

    Well it was close.

Perhaps pedestrians should be allowed to overtake...

Heard an 'urgent' bell about the time I took this -

Of course I wish I'd hit the video button!

'Ideally' the pedestrians should have all been on the same side of the path - but there are no rules...

Maybe it's an unconscious collective strategy to slow bicyclers down(?)

...Was provided for me by the twerp driving the Juniper Green Scouts minibus along Lanark Road into town. Obviously it was too much effort to actually pull out or wait a moment before barging past in an alarming manner, you selfish inconsiderate git. I hope that lazy dangerous driving is not the usual sort you display to your Scouts! Really improved my morning you did. Muppet :-<

Maybe he just means his legs hurt all the way from toe to buttock? "Legs hurt to bum."

On my way down Craighouse Rd this morning, some kind of council street servicing vehicle pulled out in front of me from "Meadowspot" (a really odd name!).

He floored it to get out in front of me, then wasn't even going that fast so I gave him a scornful "lovely driving, thanks!" (sic) as I passed his open driver's window. I think there might have been some wee winkie revving, but I was leaving him so far behind that I couldn't really tell.

    Alan's School of Motoring, Edinburgh:

I know there was no way of you knowing that I am recovering from injury and therefore not fast or able to accelerate very well at present, and I realise that you had no way of knowing that my journey today was the first time I've done a client visit on my bike since my injury, which did feel like quite a milestone for me (even though it was a shorter journey than my distance to work, but never mind). So, fair enough, you didn't know that. But let's just check what you do know.

When driving behind a cyclist approaching a small roundabout at a T-junction, is the correct action

    a) stay behind the cyclist at a safe distance until she is clear of the roundabout and then overtake safely when you can?
    b) overtake the cyclist on the roundabout where the road narrows so closely that she has to take evasive action by swerving into the road entering the roundabout on her left?

Let's just check the Highway Code, shall we? What does it say? Let's see. Oh yes, something about not overtaking on roundabouts and giving cyclists at least as much room as you would give a small car. Not miss them by less than 6" and frighten them half to death. Instructor in car WR09 HXY, you are a braindead cockwomble with all the road safety awareness of a stuffed paramecium and I hope you never ever ever are allowed to teach anyone to drive ever again. (Although judging by the state of Edinburgh drivers, you taught at least 30% of them).

It's the second time that has happened to me on that roundabout with a driving school learner under instruction. It has never ever happened with a car that wasn't a driving school car. What is going on?

Alan's School of Motoring have had a phonecall, but they have 17 instructors and don't know who has which car. *rolls eyes*

Me: he was so close I could have punched him in the face
Man on phone: why didn't you?
    Me: the window was up

They can surely check who comes back with that car later today, now that they know they need to look.

Perhaps a follow up call to them with a threat to call L&B's finest unless the School does something about it?
