Rode along the newly metalled Chancelot Path last night and this morning. Very smooth and pleasant to ride. Knocks a wee bit off my commute. I seem to be the only rider using it currently as I didn't encounter a single other cyclist on either journey!
It's an excellent addition to the North Ed path network - get out there and use it folks!

Cool. I don't think I will need to use it much but will give it a try soon.

Hope they've swept up all the bits they left sprinkled across Five Ways. Have they sealed-up the edges properly?

This will make a really handy cut-through for me.

Lovely surface and definitely a shorter route to 5-ways for me when heading that way. Thanks CEC

Needs more dogleads.
Nice bit of tarmac though.

Looked like your were just floating along there, chdot! Might just select that as a nice flat bit of path to do my first post-collarbone-break ride on.

As well as sticking up "this surface brought to you by SUSTRANS!" notices on a couple of the lamp-posts a couple of shared-use blue-circle signs would help let the had-it-mostly-to-themselves-way-too-long dog-owners know that cyclists are now more likely to use it. It's still noticeably worse than the fiveways-Warriston north-south section for large groups of leadless dogs milling around blank-eyed owners.
Wonder if there are any plans to put any sort of markings on fiveways along the lines of those applied to the MMW/NMW junction when they re-did the Meadows kerbing? Will the extra south-leading path challenge the current general sense of east-west priority?

East-West (or at least, East!) will always have it because of the gradient, just as at MMW.
Rearranging the "street scape" might work just as well - or from another point of view, would involve spending lots of money to tackle a non-issue.
This being Edinburgh, perhaps some diabolical slippery wet cobbles could be laid on the critical braking zones, a la canal towpath?
