Saturday 24th September is the Global Day of Climate Action, called by the international NGO 350.org to demand solutions to the climate crisis.

This year's theme is 'Moving Planet', so it's time to take to the streets. Come on foot, on bikes, on skates, on any other human-powered tranport you can think of!

ASSEMBLE AT 11:30, outside City Chambers, on Royal Mile/High Street, Edinburgh.

Well you would not have known it had you been slightly further east mid-morning. I've rarely seen London Road busier with traffic except perhaps during weekday rush hour.

Slightly larger number of cyclists around.

Oh and to top it all a white van reversed into me on a quiet street. Luckily I scrambled back and yelled hard enough for him to stop. He was very apologetic: SMIDSY. I'm glad he did stop otherwise I might have had a broken leg or worse. Thank goodness 6 year old son was not on tagalong at the time but in his music class. Front wheel knocked out of alignment slightly but seems not to have buckled thankfully. A bit of wiggling of qr skewer and it was fine.

one of these nightmares that happens - glad he stopped as you said.

Crowds at East Fortune to see fuel being wasted with Monster Trucks...
Day one of the Magnificent Machines for NMS. Maybe we should have boycotted it as our stand was about the only one not promoting fossil fuels.
Some kids doing stunts was the other pure pedal powered exhibit

Then again old transport exhibits are all about ineffecient energy use... and the centre piece is Concorde - that used incredible amounts of fuel

I'd like to think we're part of change but I don't see much evidence of it there...
