Meanwhile in Ljubljana

Amazingly, cities are still putting in bike lanes painted on the LEFT side of parked cars, instead of along the curb. As Jan Gehl says, the only function they have is protecting... the parked cars.
Read as 'right side' in Edinburgh... sigh.

I was in Ljubljana in the summer and cycled along a few of those routes so it was interesting to hear the background to how the bike lanes made it into the city.
There was no mention of Slovenia's new helmet law - in particular I wonder how this will affect the city's bike hire scheme.

Read as 'right side' in Edinburgh... sigh.
Read as "cities are still putting in bike lanes sharing the same space as parking spaces" for Edinburgh... double sigh.
