    Hello peeps,

I installed Tapatalk as a frequent a few forums via this Android phone. I searched through their list and did a specific search for citycyclingedinburgh but drew a blank. Has anyone any tips for accessing this forum via a mobile otherthan via the traditional web and zoomong to parts of the screen to be able to read the text.

    Cheers

With the standard Android browser you can double tap the screen to auto fit the screen. And of course the text will be automatically re-flowed to fit the screen no matter how far you zoom in.

As a result I generally find the forum quite good on Android. My biggest problem is being too lazy to zoom in enough before clicking a link. I think I will get away with enough accuracy when zoomed right out and I inevitably hit the next link up or down.

Copying and pasting stuff from other pages can be tricky. And how do you "grab the BBcode" on Flickr?

So Android doesn't have a proper browser?

In a blog posting to its customers, T-Mobile' s chief marketing officer Cole Brodman noted that many of its customers are "disappointed that we don’t carry the iPhone," answering that "Apple knows that we’d like to add it to our line-up" while offering Android-based alternatives in the meantime.

Well, it looks pretty much like your iPhone screengrab (although it doesn't waste screen space on the menu bar coz it has hardware buttons to do all that ;) )

If you touble tap it will automatically zoom the screen to the width of the main text. If you zoom in futher it will reflow the text to fit the screen so that you don't have to pan left and right. It's a nice feature.

Unfortunately I can't post a screen grab as as far as I can tell all the screen grab apps need you to root your phone (ok, so +1 to the iphone for that!; unless anyone knows another way...)

On the mobile Flickr site I can't find a link to grab the BBcode. On the full site I found that if I click the Share drop down menu then it wasn't possible to highlight the BBcode (the box would disapear before I got the option to 'select all')

But... I've just tried it again just now and it worked, so problem solved (thanks!)

I use the browser on Android, and yes in an app it reflows when I zoom in but on this site, in a browser, it just zooms in on the page so I usually end up cuttin off the username and links on the side. (can't take screem grab so show you)

    AH!!!!!

    Never actually noticed that!!

    So much simpler!

How long has that been possible?

For a brief while it wasn't possible to access the layer with the bbcode (and html/bbcode/size selection buttons) on the full-site Flickr image page via the Android browser, during which time I had to long-press the image, View it then copy the URL. Now possible again to click the Share button, click the bbcode box once to focus then another long-press to select.

@wingpig - that exactly matches my experience.

@chdot - How long has it been available? Don't know; I don't recall it not being available but I've not used Flickr for all that long (~1 year)

Hmm I've been using it for a few years, this is one feature (update?) I managed to miss.

It's not long since I was explaining - on here - the 'long' way to add photos!!

On a related note I use an Eye-Fi card - geotags photos on 'normal' cameras.

The partner iPhone app has just been updated and now uploads screenshots automatically - a small, but useful, extra functionality/efficiency.

I don't seem to have any trouble accessing the site with my Blackberry. I just use the internet icon that came with it.

The double-tap screen re-flow thing works fine for me on the standard Android browser (HTC Desire).

I find Dolphin better than the standard Android browser and the forum works just grand on my Sony Ericsson Xperia.

I'm glad that most people with different 'phones/OSs are managing to use the forum without too many problems!
