I took a quick look, but it's (predictably/depressingly) "business as usual".

For instance - there's not one single word that I can see in the driving section about cyclists. So from our point of view, almost the only significant intervention - getting people to drive safely around cyclists - is ignored, leaving just the crumbs around the edges of true "road safety" to be fussed over in the cycling section (which contains plenty of the usual apologetics, of course.)

Hmmm. The main campaigns are about double parking (drivers), pavement parking (drivers), and pavement cycling (cyclists).

Yes okay these are all problems but really it's pretty uninspiring. Possibly something to do with the Council's powers/responsibilities? Presumably it's the police who are supposed to enforce the Highway Code, eg. safe overtaking distances.

"On 10 November 2009 a presentation and discussion was held between the Council and the Edinburgh Cycle Forum. This event proved very useful in terms of understanding the views of experienced cyclists in Edinburgh, and establishing what they would like to see included in developing the Plan."

I was trying not to mention that (hides under desk)

road safety magic show "including 'be safe be seen', STOP LOOK LISTEN AND THINK and 'cycle helmets'."

Yes, I was going to mention the Road Safety Plan is a much better document. Goes all the way to 2020. Plenty of mentions for Spokes and CTC as consultees/stakeholders.

Somewhat buried on the site mind you...
