I've been trying to post this for ages. Keep getting sidetracked and forgetting the word Mapumental

This is one is one of their samples - "Public transport travel times to Edinburgh International Conference Centre. Arriving by 9am, travelling for no more than 1¼ hours."

    This reminded me today -

"It’s high time we updated you on Mapumental, our journey-time mapping project. For those who may not remember, Mapumental is based on a simple idea: to visualise transit times, by public transport, from or to any postcode in Great Britain."

That's rather cool and useful (from the people who bring us TheyWorkForYou etc.).

Very nice map. I think it must also include a certain amount of time for walking to the public transport stop? Which is a nice factor. For example the area around Balerno has yellow, lighter green and darker green but there is no other public transport apart from where the yellow is. There is a new bus stop out on the lang whang at the steading, complete with little timetable display (empty) and light. Looks like the local buzzer bus to St John's Hospital might stop there on request at some point in the future. I cannot see that connecting with a 44 in time to get the time down to lighter green. But I like the fact that distance is not the only variable. When I bussed it, there used to be an X44 [so called express that stopped at less stops] taken off due to fights. However, the dilemma was always - take the first 44 that came along or wait for the X44 to turn up.
