  1. The traffic was actually pretty light for me to get in for 8.30, but it still reminds me why I don't like taking the car. First time in 6 months, and it just feels weird.

Well its been a year since I drove to work. I moved (back) up from Cambs last Oct and have used public transport/bike ever since*.

    Yay !!

    * had two lifts home when trains were not running last winter.

Ahem, you forgot to mention the time you did a 'Dave'* and got your keys brought in to the office by private car.

*That's David Cameron, none of the CCE Daves

I drove to work once in about 2003 when my wife was off sick and we didn't have a current street-parking permit. Fortunately this was when Inverleith Terrace was still a free car park.

I past soooo many sad looking people today on the way in. At a standstill in traffic/being traffic.

    Shame.

  8. I know. I was one. Passed a heavily-loaded slow guy cycling on the path round the south of the Park who proceeded to re-pass me just as we got to the Meadows, and I never saw him again.

And, as I say, that was in relatively light traffic!

Had a couple of moments where, very obviously, me keeping a close eye around me resulted in waiting for cyclists to filter on my inside before making a move. I know that, as the cyclist, I'd have been covering the brakes ready for that move without the look...

I drive halfway to work and home from work every day. I like it. The coffee and radio 4 (and chat when I've got company) on the way in and the radio on the way back. The trick is to not give a monkey's about time.

@Instography - presumably you park half way, then drink your coffee, like a staggered breakfast, then get on the bike? All very civilised.

Drive from home to Ingliston park and ride. Drink the coffee while driving (when I'm not texting and steering with my knees). Cycle to office.
