I noticed the other day that the socialist capitalist empire is listing a few Bromptons on their website now, too. Maybe that's a craze that's spreading from London; they used to sell Birdys and the odd Dahon and Ridgeback - and the GoCycle - but folders never seemed to be quite their thing.

There is a vintage Ruption BMX hanging in my garage, with the edges of its stunt pegs ground away at a rather entertaining angle. Hasn't seen flatland for years though.

Came out of work the other day to find myself parked between two nice Raleigh 3 speeds. The caprice I see there regularly; the other one was red and a slightly older model perhaps?

I'm not sure about a three speed myself (although the Kona Africa bike is_very_ tempting), but the raleigh elegance with 5 speeds looks quite impressive.

Newcrazewaitwhatwhat? Grrr, I haven't even had time to do the last one.

I would hazard a guess BMXery would be amusing in the snow?

Not that new a craze, K. Dahon put out its Hammerhead bike in 2006 in the Japanese trend towards compact 20" wheeled rigid bikes. Wasn't a fixie though.

As for other crazes, we had yo-yos. Then it was Tamagotchi, then I suppose it was mobile phones for primary school children.

Oh yes I had one of those tee shirts. they changed colour when warm.

I'm a little older & recall walkmans and silly long chains hung from you're trousers with you're keys on.

@kaputnik and DaveC, I had a Hypercolour t-shirt too. I think it turned from dark blue to light blue. I remember the 'Hyper' bit stopped working after lots of washing machine cycles and it became permanently light blue. Most of the time the t-shirts looked like a failed tie-dye experiment.

There was another craze in the 90s where you wore your trainers with the tongues in front of the laces.

This thread is starting to sound like a Peter Kaye gig.

What were those things which were like pogs (and came in crisps or Yop or something) but which could be joined together into vaguely molecular shapes via notches in their rims?

    White trainers.

There are plenty places where white trainers are always in fashion!

    White trainers.

I've only recently discovered podcasts. I like being able to fall asleep listening to Melvyn Bragg's soothing tones as some expert or another explains the moon to me.

    Hawaiian shirts

I was going to mention them, and maybe Chinos too. But then they've kinda become 'classics' in some way, like Adidas trainers or Converse All-Stars...

I have neither clackers or clogs any more, but I do have several hawaiian shirts lurking in my wardrobe.

@Tom : world cup coins. Oh yes! Were they from Esso petrol stations, IIRC? I had a full set, which was quite impressive given that we never had a car...
