Did you spend a hot May evening in The Grassmarket last year?
If you did you'll probably want to do it again - though you'll have to wait 'til July to catch this year's Nocturne.
A bit of what happened last year.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

YAAY! I want to enter my folding bike. :-)
I meant to flag this a couple of weeks ago, but I hadn't seen any offical confirmations.
The Nocturne coincides with the Prologue of the Tour de France, so they're planning a big screen in the Grassmarket to show that and let people make a cycle-rich day of it. I'd imagine there will be other stuff organised as well (IIRC, the Marshalls/Candi TV team were at Velo Ecosse during the day last year, and there may be the odd unofficial group ride...).
It's probably too much to hope that we get last year's weather again, but I'm really looking forward to this.
Last year there was a ride organised by Rapha from the Triathlon Centre too.
Indeed there was - that's me fifth in line, I think... what a good weekend that was.
The folding race was such great fun last year - I've got every intention of competing again...
chdot It is hard to believe that it will ever be as sunny again as it is in that photo. Roll on summer. The Nocturne was a great event and I'm pleased to see that it is returning to Edinburgh again this year.
There is still no information about this whatsoever on the website. What is going on? Or is it just to keep plebs away?
Yeah it's curious that it still hasn't been updated since last year.
Ask...
I heard somewhere that none of the big names are coming this year as there is an other race on somewhere. As you can see I am not really up on the racing scene.

Do you mean Anth might not be taking part?
2010 stuff, including entries, online now:

(might recognise someone or two)
So this Nocturne, is it just for foldies or do they have a bigger wheeled race too?
If I'm not busy up North I might just have to enter. ;)
Arghh, I was jumping the gun. No Edinburgh Nocturne this year:
"Only one event is planned for the UK to be hosted in London"
:(
"Only one event is planned for the UK to be hosted in London"
Not entirely surprised. Great event, well organised, not cheap (don't know how much CEC put in), but didn't really grab the 'masses' which is what sponsors tend to look for.
Yeah, true. And there seemed to be noticeably fewer folk at last year's than the year before.
"there seemed to be noticeably fewer folk at last year's than the year before"
Yes. Though the previous year's weather was outstanding and I suspect much of the 'audience' was out for the evening anyway.
I don't think the general promotion was great (costs money unless you have a "media partner").
My family very inconsiderately organised a joint wedding anniversary / 30th party in the Lake District over last years. Was very miffed. Now I'm even more miffed.
We'll have to hold our own folder / tourer / recliner race in fancy dress.
Was hoping to take part in the folder race. Now I'll never knwo how badly I would have done.
I suspect that, when it comes down to it, the international marketing opportunity for the headline sponsors are much more attractive than Edinburgh and Blackpool. And if Face Partnership are organising Nocturnes in Singapore and Melbourne, they could do without the additional effort involved in dealing with other UK events in addition to London...
Their website design kinda doesn't work now they dont have a 'stack' of events lined up.
