CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.
Hey - I resent that... I am far from fit...
Nice cartoon always good to have as Rabbie said
'the power the giftie gie us
to see ourselves as others see us'
Some of the stuff we debate (helmets, road position, hi-viz, angry man from Fife etc.) can be taken to very reasonable people and not produce the answers you might expect.
For example, did I mention that some sociologists I know think that cyclists filming their route is contributing to surveillance culture.
My kid's friends thought I was a re-cyclist.
I suppose it's good that they had heard of recycling. Anytime I get the chance I cycle over to their school at the end of day to pick them up and be seen as a grown up on a bike. I'm fairly easy to spot around town anyway.
A kid in my eldest daughter's class thought I kept my Marmite/Teacakes tops on at work, perish the thought, I have a change of clothes hanging up [wonder if there'll be room for such niceties at our new office - we have had two weeks notice we have to move AND it is 5 miles closer but CH has supplied the link for completing a loop via Ratho should I notice the lack of fitness]. Hi viz/retention jerseys get my vote [ah except I did give a certain habnd signal to a guy in a white van the other week, just for a laugh, he was going along tooting at all cyclists then remebered I was wearing quite a distinctive top.
Balerno High School bike sheds - 7 out of 14 berths occupied. Beats 5/75 for Tynie.
As probably the only folding bike user in north Lanarkshire I always have to remember that people know it's me. Even people I don't know will ask how my bike is.
