Quite positive. She is apparently a public transport user and has campaigned on cycling and pedestrian access issues in her constituency.

Now if only Scotland could get a transport minister who was pro-cycling and pro-rail.....is there an SNP MSP that would fit that bill or do they all drive and rant about the trams, etc.?

Re: Stewart Stevenson. Presumably active travel would not have been cut under his watch.

Whereas the incumbent, Keith Brown, is notable for having unpaid fines for protesting against the Skye bridge tolls. Also for campaigning against pylons and for football on terrestrial television.

He lives in Dollar, which alas no longer has a railway station. I'm guessing he drives over the toll-free bridge to Holyrood...

    Sigh.

"Presumably active travel would not have been cut under his watch."

Perhaps, though in the past he thought he was doing plenty for 'cycling'.

Her time at GlaxoSmithKline might have influenced her views on active commuting and workplace parking. GSK is one of the UK's most proactive cycle to work companies and understands less car travel doesn't just equal healthier, more productive employees it leads to massive cash savings, too. The company has found that each cyclist, not requiring a car parking space, saves the company £9,900.

    Crow,

Again you have missed Keith Brown's announcement on on September 21st. It was in the paper.

    ch,

Yes, I noticed the corridor coach comment too. I used to get the train from Ayr to Glasgow just after 0900 because it was the "Paddy" from Stranraer and still had corridor coaches into the mid '80s.

Yes, I must have, What was it about? The Spending Review?

All I noticed from Mr Brown was his 'frustration' at the tardiness of completing the Aberdeen bypass, some housing announcements, and dark hints earlier in the year that cycling and walking funding 'could not be guaranteed'.

It's in the Evening Times, a Weegie publication. I only found it because I was looking for a Glasgow cycling councillor. The picture is much what you would expect from a paper. Lots of fancy dress.

Unlike petrolhead Hammond who was too scared of London traffic and of crumpling his suit, Greening has been seen riding a bicycle and has a solid voting record on measures intended to slow down climate change. It will be fascinating to see if, too, she has less interest in allowing the boys to drive their toys faster as Hammond suggested. More fundamentally will she talk in a more environmentally friendly way, and, more important, will he policies actually reflect that?
