    News Release - Thursday 27 October 2011

    DATES AND NEW SPONSOR ANNOUNCED FOR GLENTRESS SEVEN AND TWEEDLOVE 2012

    Tweedlove Bike Festival - Ten days of bike riding and good times in the cycle-friendly Tweed Valley in the Scottish Borders

    This year saw the first mountain bike endurance event to be held on the Forestry Commission Scotland's 7stanes Glentress trails.  The seven-hour Glentrees Seven, the flagship event of the TweedLove bike festival, was a huge success, with much praise on leading mountain bike forums for the impressive amount of normally unavailable natural trails and new sections in the mix:

    'The best mtb enduro course I have ridden and that's comparing it to Wiggle enduro 6, SITS, Mountain Mayhem and various others';
    'The best mtb enduro course I have ridden… [including] races at Eastnor, Sandwell, Trentham, Catton Park, Kirroughtree and Nevis Range';
    'Immense course - no let up - either up or down - loved it! Organisation was excellent - got to be a definite for next year';
    'I loved the course. Plenty of technical interest and some tough climbs. This was no muddy field!'

    Following the great success of the inaugural GT7 TweedLove organisers have just announced that the event will be held at the UK's best trail centre on Saturday 2 June, and plans are already underway for another fantastic course.

    TweedLove organisers welcome Alpine Bikes on board as the headline sponsor  sponsor for 2012.  Alpine have been getting involved with much cycling activity in the Tweed Valley - 'it's a deal which should work well for everyone', say organisers

    The TweedLove Bike Festival 2012, in association with Alpine Bikes, has been extended to ten days, including the double bank holiday in early June. It will run throughout the Tweed Valley from 26 May to 5 June.

    The expanded programme for this road cycling and mountain biking fiesta will also include a new 'all-mountain' enduro, with timed sections on a course with 'a bit of everything - as long as it's great to ride.

    More info on TweedLove can be found on the website as it is announced at: http://tweedlove.com/

    I think all the competitors should have to take part wearing plus fours, sports jackets and cravats.

    I'm so confused. I never know if TweedLove is the same thing as Tweedrun, or if you come along for a nice hot cup of afternoon tweed (or maybe that's the WOMBATS' domain).
