With the Cyclocross season underway, what are your experiences and tips for competing in this great sport?
Lets put Cyclocross on the map - YES?

  2. Never competed (though hope to some day), but it's great to watch (and get photos of). Planning on going to the Tranent round of the Scottish champs on the 27th to get some shots. Near enough I can just ride there...

All I know about cyclocross comes from chats on ERC runs.

The first observation is along the lines: "Never again"
    It's very tough.

The second is that in many races in Scotland different abilities are all thrown together in the same race.

My own concern would be that I spend enough time as it is cleaning my bikes, especially at this time of year [ref http://citycyclingedinburgh.info/bbpress/topic.php?id=4329.

Friend of mine from timetrials is desperately trying to twist my arm into it to the point of offering me a loan of a bike and I'm desperately trying to politely decline!

By cycling balance / cornering / co-ordinated slithering around skills are sorely lacking.

But yes, it does *look* fun to watch, just not to do!

Well I spent a couple of hours in a muddy woods on Sunday morning and loved it so I'm planning on entering the Tranent XC on 27th Nov.
