Does it have a mind of its own with regards to displayed patterns, or can you "program" it?

  3. You can choose between certain patterns, as well as the speed with which they change and variety of colours. Not entirely intuitive, but it mounted easily, and works, which is the main thing. Didn't use it this morning, not dark enough for proper effect - tonight though. Can't wait for it to get dark!

Are you thinking words, kaputnik? Would be a great sponsorship opportunity and could be combined with "Thanks" and other phrases that might be directed at car/van drivers....

    "other phrases"

    What can you mean?

  6. There's a site with homebrew options that you could probably program. MonkeyLight do make a (very expensive) version which I think plugs into the USN on your computer and you can download pictures to it.

When I first saw the thread topic, I thought "What has the Tron got to do with it?" Associating it with your Royal Mile perambulations.

    Then "Oh, THAT Tron."

Shh, it's meant to be a secret, but Mrs Anth is getting him this for Christmas.
