*Comes to CCE after giving up on Google*

Does anyone know where to buy a roll of sew-on Scotchlite in Edinburgh? I'm not that familiar with sewing shops, but that seems to be the likely source.

I'll settle for adhesive tape, which my Googling suggests is more to be found at lorry supply type places. Given what it's for I'd probably end up with enormous amounts of it, but that's the opposite of a problem; I'd simply give it away here or(subject to legal advice if anyone wants to donate some) go on a white-hat vandalism spree across the city doing things like hi-vizzing the slalom gates on the canal.

If not, it's the interweb, but that's a faff for a one-off purchase.

Have you tried Pro Fabrics (aka Point North)? Look under Accessories > Reflective Products.

You can buy large pieces of reflective fabric, 3M Solas reflective tape (sew-on), non-3M sew-on tape in 25mm and 50mm widths, and so on. I've bought great sheets of 1000den Cordura before and they're great to deal with. You can ask for samples of various materials, too, before you place an order.

It's not in Edinburgh, mind, but if you need some tape quickly enough, the hi-viz vests that B&Q sells are pretty dirt cheap.

Are there any chandlers anywhere coastal? Perhaps the workwear shop on Leith Walk?
I've three rolls of retro-reflective adhesive tape on order from the internet which was supposed to turn up two days ago which will be available at PY meets as soon as I've taken what I need.

    Thanks, mes amis.

Looking at the length of tape on my hi-viz, got at the car boot for a quid, I can probably undercut the online fabric folk by getting a few more of them there; I only need a metre or so for my bag and so on.

I've just bought a couple of A4 cut-to-size-and-shape sheets of Scotchlite from Respro off of a well know internet retailer (I checked in LBS but nowhere had it in stock). It's the soft stuff for fabric rather than for frame/plastic.

Watch this space for whatever design I come up with for my bag.

I used to see a couple of guys cycling to Edinburgh from Fife with Laurel and Hardy on the back of their jackets - Stan on the little one and Ollie on the tall guy. I think they'd look good on me and my mate for the run into work. Sheets of scotchlite would be ideal.

I can't decide what sort of design to cut mine into. I want to be all clever about it. Maybe get a pun into it too.

Neil had the Laurel & Hardy tune on his phone a few years ago, occasionally playing it when a slightly Hardyesque colleague walked somewhere.
