Some of you will know I have spent a little while recently winding up/correcting "Alternative Fuel Head" (or whatever he's called today) on the Evening News/Scotsman comment pages.

Well I saw this story while I was on the site: http://www.scotsman.com/the-scotsman/scotland/scotland_star_offers_grovelling_apology_after_drink_drive_ban_1_1986721

So I took the opportunity to leave a comment opining that I thought it disgraceful that someone who, driving drunk and unlicensed, and therefore uninsured, who then fled the scene to try to evade responsibility should be given a slap on the wrist sentence, and that further I believed he, and others like him should be banned for life before they maim or kill someone.

Strong, but I didn't think that controversial. On checking back on the story, I find that my comment has been removed, as has the opportunity to comment.
Anyone else had experience of this or is just it not permissible to criticise criminal* footballers?!?

*according to the courts decision. Despite his "apology"

    Interesting....

Compare and contrast with the several hateful comments made about the woman that received damages after being knocked off her bike by a bus.

Last time I looked that thread was getting out of hand... Comments had been deleted but ones left in were still bad.

I have noticed before that the Scotsman is very selective on what it removes as offensive. For example anything which results in sectarian abuse hurling. Anti-protestant abuse is taken down immediately, anti-catholic abuse is left up. It is entirely predctable every time.

Although I reported a comment which (imho) encouraged speeding, it was reviewed and put back up, so I reprted it again with more specific complaint and it was removed. Maybe just depends who looks at it?
