Just hope they are putting in as much thought to encouraging 'active travel' - i.e. making sure there is plenty of secure cycle parking and improving walking and cycling routes in the catchment area.

A few things
1. Boroughmuir is city central, won't be a lot they can do to improve walking routes, however the canal ir right next door.
2. The catchment is still pretty insane - Buckstone, Morningside and Bruntsfield - you've got a fair hike from two of the 3, lucky they bumped Preston Street and Royal Mile onto James Gillespies in trade for Bruntsfield...
3. The school currently has a sheltered bike park
4. I reckon they won't be able to sell the old building anyway - no developer could change the floor space and room height to make flats successfully, the building design just isn't going to let it fit. So I reckon it'll be a refurb in the end
5. It's not set in stone yet: "Two options will be put on the table – the new-build school or a refurbishment of the current building."Posted 12 years ago # -
But the new build is expected to be massively cheaper than refurb with decant.
