Like the title says...
When wearing "normal" clothes on a bike do you wear waterproof trousers? (The brolly is a bit awkward you see)
If yes, what sort is best (apart from the most expensive ones!!)
Or is there a better alternative....?

I've got these (or last year's version)

Got reflective bits and lining so nice and warm for past couple of months (not just for when it rains).
These don't seem to have reflective bits and at that price probably not lined.

I use the cheapest ones I can find in Tiso etc.
Your shoes can get pretty grubby in the winter.

I have a pair of very cheap nylon ones and a strange pair of soft shell, both from the Pro Shop at Belleisle Golf Course in Ayr. I do not use them much. I have goretex biblongs £60 that work quite well in light rain. All depends on kit you can carry, radiator at work, how cold you get etc. I uses velcro luminous straps for the ankles to keep em out of the chain. Some have zips and buttons at the anke to help them off and on. Altura have reflective bits on their NightVision. In general they take a lot of abuse and last a few seasons even if looked after. As with all waterproofs when dirty and you wash them, even using the Nikwax stuff they begin to lose their repellent properties.

Yes mine are just £20 from the outdoor shop ones and they are fine for the 30 min journeys I tend to make in them. I don't find them sweaty but obviously I am a lot warmer wearing them.
