    I rather suspect they mean the wee bumpy bits on out of town roads - rather than the lunar landscapes some of us deal with !

    Absolutely! I suspect a hard trip across some Edinburgh roads would leave the rider bruised and potentially counting spokes... it's not an accident my commuter/tourer has an XC wheelset, it's because I know Edinburgh's craters well!

    Strangely, not for some weeks.

    So as you imply, I do know about 'magic carpet rides'...

    Almost all my bikes have 531 forks which are also good for reducing 'road shocks'.
