  1. The first week or so of riding after putting new/better brake pads on the bike. Superb.

Got my brakes dialled in, I can stop on a dime

I'm going to have that Performance thingy stuck in head all day now.

My simple pleasure last night was gearing high enough that air resistance comes into play before scarily fast hamsterspinning does.

And riding without my chain'n'lock. Chain#1 only weighs ~2kg, but the locking-in-town one weighs 7 or 8.

I also discovered Craighouse Road on 72" is not a fast ascent when you turn left onto it from a dead stop. My respect for recombodna at doing Arthur's Seat on 80" increased tenfold.

The first four months or so of riding after putting a better brake on the bike. The new front brake I had to have to accommodate my longer fork is still pleasingly more effective than the old one.

The second ride after finally getting gear-adjustment right after refreshing cables or fixing something when there's no slippage or stickage. On the first one I'm usually still expecting it to happen so won't be able to enjoy it.

I didn't get 5 punctures and my tyre didn't explode this morning... (It did last night!)

You don't seem to get the p-fairy so much as her larger and more formidable cousin, the explosion gnome.

HAHA! That *must* be drawn at some point!

Yes you are very right - I'm generally quite lucky with how few punctures I get - but this is the third tyre this year to actually fail and explode on me! One was a manufacturing flaw, one was just age of tyre and final one I think must also be a flaw as the tyre is only 29 days old and can't have done more than 3 or 4 hundred miles.

Can't YouTube at work, but if it's the vaguely Andy-Murray-looking bloke in the Australia top rapping, then yes.

Anth linked it in his thread asking about recording studios and it's been rattling about my head since then. Which reminds me; Anth, if you're also going to have a set of Robert Palmer style groupies in your video, can I be one of them? Can't work out whether it'd be funnier to have three bonny girls and me, or three other lumpen blokes...

Simple pleasure this morning was commuting without a headwind, bliss...... :)

@Uberuce, lol, that sounds a laugh, I'll volunteer as well, just need to get my hands on big sunglasses and an LBD!

Respect for Kap and Recombodna went up slightly more; I'm back from a Hilly Saturday and while I didn't stop as such, I could have been comfortably overtaken on the steep bit by a jogger. In my defence, I'd lost momentum from pulling over a bit to let a car overtake, but in my not-defence I'm just not very fit.
