A good New Year to you!

Shock and awe firework display here. Possible roof damage? If only some of that money could go elsewhere... do they really have to have more every year?

    Mind you Glasgow abstained so...

    Cheers!

    Happy New Year, CCE!!

Much advice sought - and received - over the year, for which I am deeply grateful. A prosperous, aerobic, but low carbon emission, 2012 to you all.

5.5 tonnes. Council terribly proud of how much money it wasted many fireworks it set off.

I'm getting a reputation for being all anti-fireworks, but I've just got bored of how often they let them off on top of my flat. Has long ceased to be a novelty and is now just a grumble that upsets the dog upstairs.

    HNG to you aw'

May your chains not rust nor want of oil,
May your climbs be a trial but never a toil,
May ye not pull a Custard nor Kirst and hae need o' a stookie,
May your saddle be kind to your poor wee bahookie,
May ye ride each day from now till end of December,
May ye browse banter on Citycycling Embra,

And whether ye ride recumbent, geared or fixie,
May ye never be cursed by the damned puncture pixie.

    Happy New G/Year everyone!

Glasgow are too busy feeding public cash into ALEOs before unpleasant material hits the fan after the local elections in May.

Last month they passed £105 K to the ALEO which runs the car parks. They did this by having free parking at the weekend. It wasn't ticketed or advertised. I only found out when I arrived at the car park and the barriers were all up. The parking company are due to receive another £750 K from the council. The guy who runs it, and co-incidentally is the husband of a councillor, is expecting a £615,000 golden handshake next year.

I'm sure if they could have found a friendly firework supplier they would have spent thousands.

    Happy New Year to everyone!

No.2 daughter woke up before the bells and enjoyed watching the fireworks from the window: we get a pretty good view, with Calton Hill all lit up by the display. Personally I'm a bit jaded about it all, but when you see the wonder in a toddler's expressions, then it seems worth it.

Five minutes out the door on the bike this fine New Year's Day morning and i'm already harassed by a motoring heffer for daring to be in front of her on the approach to a roundabout.

The sooner they immanentize the eschaton, the better !

Damned fireworks woke me up...then went on for an extraordinary length of time, how dare they!! They also had a practice run on Friday night...I was thinking surely not, they have got the wrong day, NY is not until tomorrow...had to ensure there were no damp squibs.

Happy New Year one and all. Ara best for 2012.
