It was very quiet this morning, quite pleasant.

Ditto. Though my legs might disagree on the 'pleasant' aspect after almost a week off the bike...

It is amazingly tough going. Not sure whether it's due to the wind, the extra weight or the lack of practice. The usual 7am start also felt very very early today.

Did the nursery run on very un-fresh legs. Was fun ducking under the tree on the WoL path with Rosie on the back.
Rest of the way was a bit of a slog into the wind. Amazingly quiet though. Tailwind should get me home fastly!

I was in yesterday too, when any leg-deficiencies from recent reduced use were unable to be separated from the other impediments to high speed. I was slower than normal today but was on the spare bike with the giant airbrake pannier in place for shopping on the way home.
More cars today, though not as many as normal. I saw one other cyclist yesterday (indicating to pull out around a stray bin on the eastbound Cowgate) and only three today, two also heading west along the Cowgate and one being harassed by a car on Horse Wynd.Posted 12 years ago # -
Commute was mobbed today with the approach road being shut. Took the geared bike for what is shaping up to be another fun return journey.

Like when it is quiet. I took a plod in on a new 29r we got in from Surly. it was most agreeable. I was reminded that singlespeeding has it's own unique pace!

OT question - are 29rs worth the hype?
