Any thoughts about caps? In my view, you can never have enough caps. Though I have never worn mine due to mental scarring from DaveC's scorn. Though now DaveC is a cap wearer.

Gosh looking at the pic above, if I looked in the mirror and saw that face staring back at me I'd try scratching my skin off my face too, as Mr Hague appears to be attempting.

I do believe that is Lord Coe (he of the Olympics) on the right.

@WC, any progress? (More than valid if you've been too busy getting muddy ;-))

Cool :-) and congrats. On completing the cx, low in the field or not, a finish is an achievement in itself!
Having just driven back from smeg city all day today (bleurgh) I'm having a lazy evening myself :-)

  12. Finally got round to watching the Snow Roads Adventure Show last night. Nice to see some familiar faces (Kevin, aka MercuryKev off YACF lives (or certainly used to live) in Musselburgh I think).

Is it wrong that watching it made me want to do the ride next year?

Its avaiable as a Perm Anth.. ahermm WC. Indeed I was offered a tenner as sponsorship if I ride it this weekend:

Even with snow tyres, I think I shall not be taking the offer up.

@DaveC did you do the Deeside Loop? How does that compare?

Its much shorter, by 100km.... ;-)

Seriously, its very similar but obviously missing three of the climbs. Its very easy actually, you just keep turning left. Other than Cairn o Mount and Cairnwell its flat, well a very shallow climb up Glen Dee/Deeside. We did it in around 12 hours, and had snow, sleat, hail, cold, sun and but no rain... oh wait, aye we had rain. Other than that it starts at 8am so drivable from Edinburgh before hand so saving you sleeping over the night before, unless you really want to. The roads are dead quiet, I don't recall much traffic at all! I'm going to enter it next year.

Aye, I was mulling over the Deeside Loop (5 May) but will probably do the 'Amulree For Tea' 150k instead (4 May, also from Forfar).

If you want a cracking ride on the 5 May consider heading south instead. The Chevy Chase out of Morpeth uses some lovely roads and also gives you the chance to ride through Otterburn military ranges which are only open to the public a couple of weeks a year. You can easily ride for a couple of hours up on the ranges and see no-one and it's the only audax I know where you get to cycle down the middle of a runway. I've ridden it 4 times and I actually reckon it's a bit quicker for me to get to Morpeth than Forfar.

Well it has a train station, for a start!

I'll have a wee think, but it looks pretty lumpy. 3 AAA points!

I take it they stop firing. Morpeth isn't that far away. We were in Alnwick last month. Took no more than a couple of hours to get there.
