Sun, no ice, rain and little wind would suit me.

My regular Audax freind suggests:
I suggest eat at Perth Tesco (10.45am) - Bridies at Comrie (12.30) and then something at Corrieris (2.45pm)- that should be more than enough but there are lots of other opportunities - Culross for instance.
I don't know if you guys want to ride in a separate group but you're welcome to ride with us.

Good luck to all doing the Nippy Sweetie tomorrow. The section through Perthshire will be awesome.

Aherm... Saturday. ;-)

Tom - thanks! Sorry you can't make it.
DaveC - may well join you. Will see how it all flows. Every audax seems to start in a different way. I will particularly value your local knowledge in how to get to the bridge. We going for 6 hours for the round?

Looking forward to my first Audax of the season. Hopefully weather will stay fairly benign.
If I get round in 10 hours I'll be pleased! I'll be taking any chance I can to catch someone's wheel! What is the CCE contingent: Amir, DaveC and..?

I very much doubt I'll be round in 6 hours!! I have managed ~5 hours on past 100's since the New Year, but hopeing that if we have a peleton we can take it in turns at the front - not that we'll be doing peleton speeds of course.

If I can keep up with your legendary pace, Dave, then I'll happily take my turn at the front!
But the way the big group dropped me as we left North Berwick on the Erit Lass last Septemebr suggests I may be toiling in others wake.Posted 12 years ago # -
I'm with you riffian if can get round n 10 I'll be happy :-)...... Better go and service the bike!
Posted 12 years ago # -
I will be quite happy with a little above 15 mph rolling average plus tea stops - though this should be a relatively quick route (cf other 200kms in Scotland). For most sportives (where the need for speed is greater), I manage 16-17mph.

Oh jeepers, I wish you guys would pipe down a little about my 'legendary pace'! I can assure you I'm not 'club rider'. I just bimble in and out of Edinburgh from the Kingdom a few times a week. I expect our pace round the 200km will be under 14mph ave especially as my furthest ride to date have been 107km. Expect me to bonk at some point near 150km and recover 20km later... [I'm guessing at]..

The bridies will keep you going Dave

You were impressively quick going round Arthur's Seat

My legs are still sore from trying to keep up with him on Tuesday and that was only 7 miles. Inhuman, I tell you.

OK Bike serviced...... Looking forward to it. I'll be dong it on my retro bike that was built during the fuel crisis n the 70's

Well the bike is prepped, the tool roll has been tied on along with the rack and top bag, the home made flapjack cherry/coconut has been cut into bars and individuallt wrapped in grease proof paper. Josie is just away getting bananas and energy drink. Kits washed so I'm all set.
See you tomorrow folks.

Bike prepped too. Just minor gear / brakes / cleanliness / seat alignment sorta stuff. Going to take some spare clothing a drybag on the rack as I've realised the bar bag fouls the front light. So bar back mount has come off for a cleaner front end.
Bananas stocked up on. Route sheet printed, cut and in a waterproof bag.
You're kit is "washed"? That's a novel concept!

*splutters* I just Wiki'd Audax and it only has a single source? What sorcery is this?
At this time my longest single ride is 51.2km, so you are each just under four times the man of me. I will at some later date bow to your win-ness. Unless you screw it up, in which case I'll Nelson Muntz you.
Is there a sensible spot for us to cheer you out or back?

I think their ride time will be around 8 - 9 hours. Add stops for refreshments and controls and that's another 1 - 2 hours. So you might catch them at Kirk Loan Hall sometime around 5.30pm at the earliest, 6.30pm or later more likely.

"Thats us just in Comrie eating bridies & beans." - DaveC via Twitter at 1.29pm.

Hmmm, kaputnik last heard of eating blue ice-cream at Causewayhead so all bets as to their arrival time are off.

Well that was a great ride. We set off for the bridge and inti Inverkeithing leaving Kaputnic sadly as he had a puncture. In the large group we flew up through Coudenbeath, kelty & Kinross to Perth with a breif control south of Bridge of Earn. Perth stop at 10.30 but massive queue for bfast 20mins as they'd run out of food. So 35 mins stop & off for Comrie. 5mins delay in St Davids but good time to Comrie with ave speeds 17mph. ~45 min stop for Bridies& beens. Then ploughed up the hill towards Braco feeling great, speed around 20mph but heading down to Braco I got a puncture. Fixed it & packed everything up to discover another puncture & groans from everyone who waited. I cheered them up with home made flapjack. Yum. So through Braco & Dunblane to a lovely cafe in Causewayside. ~45 mins later we headed off for Alloa - prob 3.30ish. Through Alloa and down to the Forth path at Kinkardine bridge met with a cold headwind all the way through Culrose to FRB ave 13 mph on that leg. Then simply over bridge into Craigleith for a control question and back through Roseburn and Corstophen to the finish at ~7pm.
I feel much better now I've showered and am off to bed now. Night!

Really good ride. Day got sunnier as it went on. Good to chat with fellow forumers - DaveC's flapjack deserves a mention. I was helped by riding in various groups most of the way round.
Took a tumble on the road after Comrie - resulting in bloodied knee, hip and elbow. No lasting damage. Bit of a slog along the main road before Rosyth when an easterly had picked up.
Arrived back at 5.45 which was quick for me. Tired and a bit sore but a good day out.Posted 12 years ago # -
Sorry to hear of your off south of Comrie, hope you are not sore today. I know that stretch of road very well and wasn't looking forward to cycling it (having driven to Cultybraggen camp many times in the past, but it was great especially as we had a tail wind and the warm sun was out. On that tight turn heading to Braco I got my puncture and it would have been horrible if it had been windy and rainy.
Great to meet the other riders from CCE, Kaputnik, Riffian, Amir and Recomodna. Recomodna set off before us from Alloa (twinned with Hawaii) but arrived back 15 mins after us as he got lost in Alloa apparently!
I'm defo getting a map, I don't like blindly following others or using the directions on the route sheet.
I'm now looking for a 200 at the end of April. Might do the Rivers Lochs and Glens but I don't want the hastle of the drive over.

Yeah great day. I did get lost a bit in Alloa ( turned right at the wrong angels RAB). The ride from Culross to the bridge was a slog for me!! Nice to meet the other forumers and witness DaveC's legendary puncture repair technique ( he fix's 'em twice). Cracking flapjack's Dave!!!
