Just wondering if the bike parking at waverley was particularly up to snuff. Going to an event in Glasgow and would like to cycle up to station as it's a lot quicker than the bus.

You may want to have a read of this thread.

There is plenty of bike rack space towards the back of the station, but note that you'll have to push your bike for the last 100m or so (great design, eh?)

There is handy parking next to platform 11, just to the right as you enter the station down the main entrance road. However these racks tend to be full, but you can usually squeeze in somewhere.

Note that there have been friendly notices up recently warning that bikes will be removed if they are locked to anything other than a proper bike rack.

I'm of to London early on Friday from Haymarket and have been wondering the same. Do I need to leave extra time to find a parking spot? I would just take the bike, but am coming back via Preston and have no sense of what bike carriage on that line is like.

I've been parking the bike at Haymarket over the last few weeks. At 8am there is almost always a space. The racks are quite long so it's possible to squeeze three or four bikes per rack. And there is a fair bit of railing very close by.
Note that these racks are on the pavement outside Ryries pub. I wouldn't really class these as belonging to the station, but that doesn't stop Scotrail claiming that Haymarket has bike parking.
