Just for the banter, with no special preparation I counted my heart beats for a whole minute and got... 62

I was woken up at 4:30am for SWMBO's airport taxi and have consequently been on the caffeine, so this doesn't seem too shabby.

Bit of a way to go before it's as low as Lance Armstrong's 34bpm though! :O

    64. Similarly on the caffeine, but have no excuse other than the daily grind.

Think 34 is slightly out of reach unless I cheat and get an elephant heart implanted!

66bpm straight up stairs from lunch.

Hmmm. 54, after a nice early start courtesy of the child and most of my flask. From the weight and slosh there's about a cupsworth remaining.
My brother-in-law-the-personal-triathlete-trainer has a scarily low resting heart rate (somewhere round thirty) though it's probably a little more human at the moment as he's been off his foot for a while after some ligament surgery.

This is worth a thought or two. I guess the Aussie's don't mess around when it comes to pblic health messages. Apparnetly desk jobs can be bad for your health. http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/222788/20110930/sitting-down-early-risk-death-study-office-worker.htm

    Low 50's, good going!

I guess a proper "resting" HR is not taken in the office at the middle of the day, but either way, the 30s are scarily low (count out a beat every two ticks of the second hand, crikey!)

After seeing the posting - not as bad as my spelling. Apologies for lowering the normally impecable standard of posts on this forum.

67 and pretty irregular. I had a (strong) coffee at 0915 - will that still have an effect now?

54 for me... I always seem to get little surges and drops when I'm taking my own pulse and wonder if by observing it I'm affecting it too. Will need to dig out my heart rate monitor when I get home and see what happens once I've been taking it easy for a while.

Just about to have lunch, coffee was an hour ago, and 59 bpm. It normally reaches about 48-50 bpm when I'm just waking up from sleep.

58 - four mugs of tea already today. According to the British Heart Foundation the normal is between 60 and 100(!) Obviously an unusually healthy bunch on here.

66 counted rougly over 30 seconds and multiplied bt two. But counted yesterday I'm sure I counted ~55 over 6 seconds (multiplied by 10) so less accurate I guess.

I'm sure mine is in the eighties. I can offer no other excuse than having nearly beaten my squash coach in the last hour. 2-0, and we ran out of time to play the third game, which might have resulted in a 3-0 win for me (best of 5, usually)!

64 as measured by my wee Garmin doofer. Not sure if mainlining tea has any impact. It would probably go up if I did some work.

  20. Not got an HR monitor; and I've got this thing about feeling my pulse. Can't stand it - can't sleep at night if I can feel it, or hear it in my ear on the pillow or the like. You'd think the reminder of still being alive would be soothing. So basically, anyway, I'll probably not be able to monitor mine...

Mine was 64 at lunchtime. Strange how so many of us are similar.

    Not got an HR monitor;

I got an app for my phone which counts your pulse using the camera, its accurate and (on android) its free.

I'd be willing to bet on a mean age of about 40 years and a standard deviation of 7.5 years. That and the similarity of physical exercise would give you similar heart rates. Actually, I bet you could build quite a nice model to predict heart rate using age, sex, weight and average weekly mileage. That would save Anth having to touch his lubdup areas.

Many of us are athletes according to the above link.

Of course its only one measure of health. My blood pressure could be better.
