I'm pleased to read that ‘Cyclists Dismount’ signs are advisory and not compulsory, as I've been enjoying the new temporary car-free cycle path installed on Prince's street, but never know whether I should hop off and on my bike.

There's one section of Princes Street I would certainly advice to dismount and do a pedestrian impersonation. There's now no right turn from Waverley Bridge to Princes Street East. The traffic lights are incredibly confusing and road very narrow due to tram works barriers. Buses and taxis hurtling around as though there's a herd of ravenous flesh eating zombies chasing behind them.
Just hop off and walk on the pavement. Lose maybe 30 seconds but gain peace of mind.
