Ha ha ha...love it. In the bad old days....
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 16years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

that is class
'round these parts, we just pull out the Colt .45 and be done with it.
Eat the banana thus disarming him.
I must confess I feel more vulnerable without my training chain, which is entirely silly given I'm somewhere between seven and eight thousand times more likely to hit myself on the back of the head than successfully use it in self-defence.
also quite soft sell bike insurance. Does anyone know if joining CTC if they will still give you third party as part of the membership?
yes
@gembo, I am sure that there are numerous CTC members who never really come out on runs with the club(s) but join for the 3rd party insurance. As Diarmid says...yes!
Freely admit I joing for the 3rd party insurance and a bit of legal clout to throw around in the event of any discussion with drivers. The magazine can be quite readable too.
Yep, that's pretty much why I joined CTC. I've never been on one of their organised rides.
I went once - really nice folk. But the rides do tend to take quite a while and I just don't have enough time.
I think you get third party insurance from joining British Cycling as well.

Only with Silver or Gold
CTC also do a family membership which means your spouse/partner and kids get cover too. The free legal helpline is pretty handy too. CTC also believe in backing up their members in any cycling related disputes. Quite a decent magazine, newsletters, oh and regular organised rides too.
I'd say it's worth joining if you're a regular cyclist, especially if you do a bit of touring.
I got a phone call from their legal rep about my bent wheel claim this evening. They will pursue it at no cost to me. Will post updates.
I have mentioned before that I am happy to do a basic self defense training course for other cyclists given that there is normally plenty on a bike you can use should you have no other option.
PM me if interested.
