Musselburgh BMX Dirt Track

  1. Didn't even know this place existed. Have walked past it loads going out along the sea front without noticing. One thing I particularly like is that the track is accessed by one of those A-Frame gates designed to stop motorbikes, and which are pretty damned good at stopping bikes as well...

    This looks like the rebuilt BMX track! It used to be immediately next to the big stone wall where Musselburgh Gas Works once was, and more or less under the black industrial unit on the far right of the first pic. I used to go racing there in the early 90s, and even then the track was getting overgrown.

    The old triple whoops was on the straightaway next to the Gas Works wall and was jolly hard to clear in one go! You can still see the original track on Bing maps.

    The building in the background of Anth's photo's is the racecourse cafe. It's where the SESTRANS Megacycle finished last May.
