I know it is six months away but thought I would get this in early.....Whilst Liz S and I enjoyed leading the ride last year, more than two others would be great!!

This year, as for every year for a while now, there is a Ladies Bike Ride, during Bike Week (16th - 24th June, this year).

This year's run will be on Thursday, June 21st (Midsummer's Day) starting at 19:00 hours, or if you prefer 7 pm, from the Commonwealth Pool. The ride will be about 15 miles and will last a couple of hours, the route as yet to be decided and will be advertised nearer the time, but rest assured it will not be too arduous and will be at a steady reasonable pace.

Please do join us - the weather was lovely on last year's run and I hope will be the same again this year - and it would be great to have more participants! So I am hoping by advertising early that more people will put it in their diaries, eschewing other tempting offers, and come along.

@uberuce - I think the full set might be a bit of a giveaway....

@ruggtomcat - and I cannot comment on whether or not you would get away with it

I really would not be offended if you wished to organise a Gentlemen's ride for Bike Week, but on this occasion I would have to decline your very kind offer to accompany us on the run, sorry. Perhaps if you wish to join this sort of easy run then a short Sunday run, every 3rd Sunday of the month, with the CTC might suit, and that is my best offer, I would be more than happy for you to join us on any of these.

Yeah 15 miles in 2 hours?? That's no ride for a man I'd fall over at that speed it'd be so slow. RRAAARRRGGHH!!! I'm off to eat some bricks and scrub my man bits with sandpaper OH YEAH!!!! ;-)

@recombodna - do enjoy, sounds like very manly thing to do!!! :-P

The idea of the run is to attract people returning to cycling or those that really don't get out much on their bikes during the rest of the year, as are many events organised during Bike Week, just to get people out on their bikes and raise the profile of cycling as can be evidenced on the offical website. http://www.bikeweek.org.uk/

Don't think he has any legs so he'd actually be quite slow.

It has occurred to me that perhaps part of the attraction is that it is an evening ride, and I did think after my post that you may be interested in the CTC Tuesday evening runs. These start in May and last until late September, and are considerably faster than the one annual Ladies ride, however, that said it is leader dependent, some being a great deal faster than others, and involves a pub stop, usually at the halfway point. We meet at about 6:50 pm and leave at 7 pm sharp from the Commonwealth Pool and are about 20 - 25 miles.

Zippy, Bungle? I was working by this time. Play School, Jackanory, Crackerjack, Roobarb and Custard, Hector's House, the Magic Roundabout, Blue Peter with Val Singleton and John Noakes, and later Peter Purves, were more my time. Kind of remember Magpie just about....Rainbow, nope not in my memory bank!!

Ivor the Engine, The Clangers, Bagpuss, Noggin the Nog.

Anyhow, CTC Tuesday evening runs sound ideal for me come the warmer weather and good evening light! Will update the calendar...

@recombodna, really, R&C late as that? After college then it must have been before work...I think it was the mad birds that I really liked and the illustration. It was the earlier days of BP with just Val and John. I really never, ever watched Rainbow...if it was 1972.
