It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.
Some people 'do' Twitter, others like Facebook.
Twitter is increasingly being used for 'instant' comments to other people and organisations.
Just had a useful meeting with a man from https://www.twitter.com/edintravel (http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/edintravel) who is keen to improve it's information service - esp to cyclists.
Quite a few people here post and/or tweet about bad conditions - weather, ice, potholes etc.
If you put 'warnings' on Twitter consider adding #EdTravCyc

Was supposed to be at the lunchtime meet till an unexpected extra A&E trip this morning :( (which meant I have to make time back at work if anyone's wondering why such a morning trip would impact on lunchtime).
This is a grand idea - tis a column I'll add to the Twitter app on my phone.

Not me. After the fracture clinic yesterday Mel was in masses of pain overnight. I got a call just as I arrived at work asking me to take her to A&E (the fracture clinic said to do so immediately if there's any pain in the toes). Turns out the cast they put on yesterday wasn't quite right, so as the foot swelled, which was expected after being moved a lot more than it had been, her toes were slowly being crushed.
Really have had virtually no time to sit and take stock since Sunday - I'm done in!
Anyway, back to the hashtag - is it just me or have the Innertube tweets and reports on the cyclepaths been a LOT less recently? I reckon the hashtag would be a much better tool than 'blue line has a tree across it' and so on.
Must do some promotion as much as I can on Twitter.
I stopped bothering to check my Innertubers tweet-column and rely on CCE for news of trees, burnt-out cars, icy-slipperiness, roasted hogs' heads or binbagged human heads on the cycle paths. I've notified @EdinTravel of a few things. LRT, LBP and EdinTravel usually conspire between each other to keep me informed of major road closures, with all three outdoing themselves this morning to tell me there was something severely wrong with Piershill Terrace.
Oh I wish it was roasted.. it was a raw pigs head... *boak*
I see people are beginning to use #EdTravCyc.
You don't need to have a smartypantsphone to send messages to (your) Twitter a/c.
You can send by txt.
I used to txt to twitter before I got a smart phone.
Wonder if anyone will need to use #EdTravCyc to warn about ice, potholes, new road closures etc.

Appologies for not tweeting about thick ice on the Wol on the way in from Balerno, my boss came in on his bike and came off on the WoL path. I'll think on next time someone mentions anything.
