  1. F.r.O.G!

Dafte beasts, sat in the middleof the Innocent Path this morning. I did my SSPCA bit and after spotting a first pair from a little distance away, turned and tried to usher them from the path. A little too much 'else' going on in their little froggy minds, so they didn't seem perturned at all at being picked up and put to the side.

Off I cycle feeling happy at doing a little good deed for the morning, when I suddenly realise, 100 yards on, there's another pair at it! I came very close to squishing them, but for a ninja-swerve. So shifted them off the path as well (they were happy to be ushered for a while, but the young lady frog was a little tired after a few hops with a chap on her back).

I saved four lives this morning. I reckon I'll wind up being some sort of mythical being for frogs...

Nice work, but if I were you I'd avoid Blackford Pond of a summer's evening where you may well see *thousands* of frogs all over the path.

Oh I didn't see any frogs, was this on the Craigmiller-tunnel stretch? Maybe I should check my tyres later.. :-( Mind you I didn't see you either but if you were off somewhere playing with frog that is probably why...

"was this on the Craigmiller-tunnel stretch?"

Seems likely - there's a pond on the right (down from the Tunnel). This photo shows a frog from the ground round the "climbing rock".

has anyone actually run over a frog. Can imagine it's pretty gross. I was scunnered enough by the half a slug stuck to my leg last autumn.

"Why are the frogs doing piggybacks?"

    It's in their contract.

    "Time for 'Segregated Frogways'?"

They'd need to have high dividing walls.

Well these displays of 'Frogging' down the cyclepaths are terrible. Won't someone think of the tadpoles! Why won't someone think of the tadpoles!

    LOL.

I don't think there is a need for Segregated Frogways here. My guess is that the gentleman frog is underneath and piggybacking the slower, lady frog away from harm. How sweet.

  15. They were actually closer to Duddingston Road West, strangely, quite a way fmr that pond!

As for snails, they really do come out in abundance don't they?

Must be able to jump wall to Duddingston Loch then.

Taken on May 28, 2008 on Innocent after some rain - near the 'blind bend'.
