My sister and Mum are off on holiday tomorrow, so they're in the flat trying to get Mum's suitcases under the weight limit.

In an attempt to distract myself from their bickering I've used said weighing device on my bikes.

I was surprised to find the roadster was as light as 14.30, while the racer tipped the scales at 9.85 and the winter chunk 11.80kg.

I'll bring that scale along to coffee on the 17th if anyone is curious as to the weight of their steed in its on-the-road state.

Prizes for heaviest steed (sans and plus luggage)

  4. Must remember to pack the Carradice with the heaviest stuff I can find that day... Oh, and take the camera with the humungous lens (as I have today) to add the backpack to the weight...

'Prizes for the heaviest steed' Think Im gonna win that one, if I turn up. Definitely the luggage category, unless Dave turns up with 75kg of wood.

Backpack obviously doesn't count anth, since that's just weight your bike wasn't able to carry ;-)

Bah. Either I can't find it or they decided to take it with them for the return trip...

  10. Hmmm, alternative solutions? Throw the bikes in the canal and see which sinks fastest?

Rig up a scale with some rope, a pulley and a tree-branch (or a plank and suitably fulcrumish canalside log)?

If the bike floats we can all point and shout "Its a witch!!"

If it floats, it's a witch. Burn it.

I assume all the glue in the carbon in the TT bike wheels and frame will burn up a treat.

Aluminium burns lovely too if you can get it hot enough to ignite.
