A MASSIVE expansion to Edinburgh’s financial district is set to be built on the site of Edinburgh’s historic Fountain Brewery – despite it being snapped up for a new school last year.

I do not understand how they can justify the school plot being below the minimum recommended school size, if they have other land they are using for other things.

The new school does have a lot of potential though - especially as other option is bussing the kids to somewhere out by the bypass for years. This does not appeal to me!

"A NUMBER of public meetings will take place next month to give residents their say on the future location of Boroughmuir High School."

I thought those meetings were for parents of pupils at Boroughmuir and feeder schools, not public meetings. Case can be made for both, but potentially different interests! (reason I note it, is that communications from council to parents claimed that they were doing 4 separate meetings, instead of one, in response to parents wanting meetings at feeder schools)

Website lists those who are being consulted, but then mentions public meetings, so I guess its a free for all.

"A MASSIVE expansion to Edinburgh’s financial district.."

Not likely to re-balance the economy much, which is a pity. I hope the school will keep people living in the city proper though.
