A splinter group has emerged away from the CCE obsession with coffee -

"don't think it had done leafy tea for a while"

    So - bag-free cafes?

Hmmm... worthy of further investigation. Although I'm a strong-tea-with-milk-in-a-tin-mug man myself (rounded off with a couple of digestives or ginger nuts) I'm willing to try something a bit more ...delicate?

How have you not mentioned anteaques:

It seems to be run more as a hobby/obsession than a business so is only open Thursday-Sunday. It is fantastic though! The tea-guy running it really knows his stuff. It's often full though - I think they were overwhelmed, so I generally just go there to buy my tea. I'd recommend Bancha (green tea, if you're into that) and White Pomegranate (I generally am not very keen on flavoured-tea, but this one is fantastically well done)... agh! Am getting thirsty just thinking about it.

Gunpowder is my favourite but the last time I told that to a tea fan he made some remark that I didn't understand but which I took to be disparaging towards Gunpowder and all those who drink it.

@lionfish I was about to mention Anteaques, after having mentioned it on the coffee thread (oops). It's lovely although yes it is quite small.

Sales of that icon of British social life, the teapot, have fallen drastically. Can we stop the tradition of making a pot of tea from going up the spout?

had to take colleague to dagda yesterday; when returning from cashpoint via Gifford Place, noticed 'Tea at 94' (94 Buccleuch St). Which I don't think have been mentioned. another review/listing here
