So, we've decided to move, jobs are being applied for and house will be getting letted. Will be living with the inlaws in lovely (Humphrey) Lyttelton, but probably working in or around what's left of the city (or in fact Lincoln, for one job I'm looking at).

Would really love to be mostly person powered to work and was wondering what the run with Gunshot over the Port hills would do for my legs (The Lyt Tunnel is a no for bikes) when I noticed this useful addition on the bus timetable.

    yay red bus

    Coulda just looked on wikipedia:

Remember being alarmed when first in dunedin when I saw the front of bus pram carriers, that had them front facing and unfolded on the front of bus.

Like this, only not a trolley bus, they were diseasels by the time I was there.

This is New Zealand, right? Not Lincoln, Englandshire? Perfect cycling country around the latter...

Yep, is pretty flat too there, just happens to be on the other side of a seriously big hill to where I'll be living :)

Anth, aww, shukz but hey gives you a local guide for wherever the heck we end up. Rotorua was mentioned, but I'm vetoing despite the large salary due to the intrinsic egginess.

And just think, Edinburgh will become 0.08% more cyclechic with my departure.

  6. I wonder if you ever get used to the Rotoruan whiff?

In all honesty, glad you're finally able to make the leap!

Trust me, to cycle in there would involve blue lights and detainment. It's all uphill to Chch as well so would be a complete slog. Bus link is a nice cherry though.

Considering the cycling alternative is still shut. What a lovely site from CCC though: http://www.ccc.govt.nz/cityleisure/gettingaround/cycling/findaride/mountainbiking/bridlepath.aspx

Thanks Anth, think we reached the point in the new year where we didn't want to sit in stasis any longer! And it will be an amusing experiment to see if Roro loses her scottish-ish accent. Just one step past the planning phase, but hopefully will progress quickly.

And all TV shows in NZ have power ballad theme music like baywatch:
