  1. According to a commenter on the EEN:

"No not watergate. However, those of us who have had to suffer the terrible state of Edinburgh's roads, would LOVE to have a "hotline" to CEC's transport convemer, and have any pot holes or other defects they noticed ,fixed within an hour of a phone call. However, here we have an example of a SPOKES official having just such a facility. Her smugness is truly sickening BTW, and her lack of conscience even more staggering"

Cyclists have their own potholes...who knew? Although the revelation that this commentator shares an office with a female "SPOKES official" (do voluntary groups have officials?) makes me suspect some serious unrequited love...

Can't quite work out what the commenter [with the Polish sentence as a handle putting our own monikers to shame] is taking issue with - if someone has a hotline [clarence plus] to have potholes fixed is that not useful to everyone?, indeed saves you the bother [tho of course some of the potholes might not affect you directly they will still be helpfully repaired for the benefit of all road users]. Having such a hotline might make you feel smug but how is it linked to your conscience?

He does seem very logical tho in his arguments [check out this fallacy]

Of note is the fact that the usual crowd of lycra lovers haven't been on here shouting me down or calling me fat etc. Makes me wonder if I have hit a nail on the head ?

Spokes doesn't have "officials" so the one hour pothole threat is just an inflated version of the 45 minute claim...

There are still some councillors who can make (some) things happen by 'phoning the right person - but it's more likely to be things like litter and snow clearing than potholes.

Certainly doesn't extend to repainting ASLs or cycle lanes!

the pothole I reported last winter was fixed properly within a week. I reported one approx a week ago that is not yet fixed.
