I really can't get my head round those narrow fixie flat bars. They look dreadful but don't even have the common decency to be functional to make up for it. The wide flat bar on my Genesis looks rubbish too, but at least it makes steering and hauling uphill nice and easy.

Uberuce - agreed. In my current (unrequited) quest for my new ride, I considered all bar types.
Still cant see past drops - imho they allow greater 'flickability' on the road. Position of hands on those daft wee bars seems to inhibit movement - perhaps its just me?

@The Boy: the limiting factor is the position of the rider's elbows, so there's no point in the bars being narrower than that. I've got narrow shoulders and drops are still the same width.
That's kinda moot, since if the gap you're aiming for is so narrow that an inch of narrower bar will make a difference, then it's really time to not go through it, take primary and have a happier life.
