He's gone to pandapanda now, although like him I screenshotted the EEN site when it was posted as laidback.

Pandas are large quadrupeds, until fairly recently thought to be related most closely to racoons, although genetic evidence indicates they are within the bear family, albiet at some remove from the other ursidae. I don't think they have anything to do with Laidback's mind control schemes. But I better get thrown out of Edinburgh Zoo for shouting awkward questions at at Tian Tian and Yang Guang. Just to be sure.

Jeepers! Some comments eh? All can say is I'm glad I have a full motorcycle license and car license with no points. That should give me the relevant training to cycle on the roads. The rest of you get it sorted eh?

Anyway I'm glad made it to the shoot. My girls had a great time hanging out in the flower beds with the other kids and I managed to look like a total thug in the photo. No Helmet how dare I ;-)

Cyclists are more likely to hold a full driving licence than the general public are, so it's hard to see how a lack of training is really responsible for widespread behaviour?

Thanks to wp for the heads up on the LB identity being used.

When you get people so willingly changing IDs then they devalue anything they were saying - assuming it was of any value in the first place. I reckon forumers are able to judge genuine posts from rogue ones. In the end even the CCE forum is a tiny sample of opinions although done in a measured way....

"Do you mean 'some motorcyclists', or 'all motorcyclists', Anth? I must not be encountering the same ones. My experience is that most bikers are quite well behaved, even though many seem to take filtering to the same level as many cyclists."

I failed my Part 2 25 years ago because I didn't filter past a queue of traffic. "Excessively cautious". Never sat it again.

I meant that the commenter on EEN was suggesting that all cyclistsare asking for it and aren't properly trained and should be looking at motorcyclists as how they actually should act, suggesting that having passed a test and having a motorbike certified as safe for the road meant that there was never a bad motorcyclist ever.

Needed the context of the 'discussion'.

@Laidback. Durr. I didn't think to warn you of the ID theft, sorry. Just assumed the mods would take off and nuke the site from orbit.

I presume it was the same person, called Pat R-something last I looked, who just pulled a quote from chdot here and edited it so it looked like he was advocating RLJing and pavement cycling.

I think the nanotech devices you implanted in his brain are faulty. Send the pandas round to have a look, could you?

I've encountered that before from 10cc/Incandescent (and various other usernames). He'll now start trawling the internet for snippets about whoever he is attacking and cross posting them onto the EEN site in an attempt to intimidate the object of his upset. (in direct contravention of the site rules).

This is an old trick. I remember it was a popular technique with trolls on USENET back in the day. There are some folk, once they get a bee in their bonnet, they don't give up until they feel they have 'won'...

It can be fun bursting their bubble, but usually not worth the bother.

The EEN comments moderator seems to be busy removing the 'clone' comments from commenters with multiple and variable identities. Clearly some public spirited reader must have flagged up these comments as unsuitable due to their contravening the T&Cs of web site use. Probably something to do with copyright infringement, at a guess.

We seem to have got action. Thankfully I never even got time to see what was being posted...

Your ID alter ego didn't say anything stupid or offensive* since it was all quotes pulled from here - and not even edited like he/they did to chdot's today.

*excluding the people who find the idea of cyclists as having any right to the road offensive

PM me if you'd like the screenshot, though.

Winter morns dawn crisp and there's a hint of a lisp
    from your front tyre
as you pass through frozen leaf litter

    Beautifully evocative, Anth...

  15. :)

I was just pleased at rhyming 'hypothecated'.

Used to do this kind of thing all the time - trying to wind myself up into taking the plunge and going to a poetry slam.

I like to think of myself as relatively handy in internet arguments, but I was baffled by the whole way that EEN comment section went.

The guy with all the IDs just copy-pasting in random blabber, it made him look retarded (even trying to read his posts with my motoring hat on). He didn't just shoot himself in the foot, he blew off his entire leg and died of blood loss.

That was great Anth. I'd love to see it done as a rap.

    "Budget and fudge it". !

This is an XTR example of top level cycle poetry in the best garage tradition.

If it goes viral there'll be fun... and trouble!
