Last weekend (10-11th March) the Forth Road Bridge was supposed to be closed for essential maintainance. This never happened as the wind speed was to high. They are planning this maintanace again for this weekend 17th - 18th March. This means the North bound carrage way will be closed and a contraflow put in place on the right lane of the southbound carrageway. I asked about the closure of the pedestrian/cycle paths as I was told by some CTC cyclists on Sunday they expected the cycle path to be closed also. This is not true:

"@DaveCrampton Pedestrians and cyclists will be able to cross the bridge using the west footpath/cycleway this weekend".

If the conditions are too windy this weekend (17-18th March 2012) then Feta have said they may have to carry out this maintanace during the weekday periods.
