"sounds more like 1st April has come early"

    Perhaps, but it's real

Interesting quote by Angus Farquhar in SH article - "NVA believe its moveable artwork could follow the Dutch original and inspire change."

Not quite sure if he is saying that 'bike friendly Amsterdam' stems from that original White Bicycle scheme. It was certainly widely publicised at the time and is bound to be at the back of the minds of people bringing Vélib' (and similar) schemes to Paris, London etc.

The 'proposal' for Edinburgh seems to have foundered on the planning/streetscape problems of allowing advertising (to pay for it)!

Perhaps the sight of this happening in Glasgow will spur Edinburgh???

Also a story in today's Observer about a surge in sales of bakfiets cargo bikes down south in last 6 months. Sorry, can't find it on the website - just a small story, but also picture. Between the Herald story and this one, I thought the pro-cycling message was quite positive today, for those of us with 'predictable' paper reading habits, anyway...
