At work on the Blackberry just now so difficult to type or post URLs correctly but a relatively positive news story. *touch wood* I haven't come off/been knocked off my bike in the last two years I've been cycling around Edinburgh but I have started to notice an increasing number of vehicles not giving me as much space as I would be comfortable with - whether this is due to taking a much more primary and defensive position in bus lanes and on the road in general, I'm not sure.

I'm also not convinced how much difference a reduction in speed limits would make with the lack of space issue but this is encouraging nonetheless.

Following today's cycle safety summit, I will be focussing on calls for 20 mph limit on Reporting Scotland this evening. 1830, BBC1 Scot.

Everyone wants to see more people cycling in safety. Minister clear leadership required. Good. Looking forward to his initiatives @sustrans

Am I being overly cynical to translate John Lauder's last tweet there as "I'll believe it when I see it"?

In the article Mr Brown is quoted as saying:

"Scotland's roads are perfectly safe when everyone uses them responsibly and with respect for each other."

Well we could exchange one word and abolish all GUN control laws, but I don't see this happening for one minute!

Sounds like another, I'm not going to do a thing, quote from our politicians, who are expecting everyone to just respect each other and get on...

Everything would be nice if no one did bad things. True. Useless but true.
