I used to commute in roller blades for a while. This was somewhere a bit flatter than Edinburgh though.

We used to use old style in-line skates (big long things) for summer training for cross-country skiing - with poles. Have always wanted to try a pair of proper roller blades, since they got small and quiet. One of these days I'll give in and pick some up at a nearly-new sale (yes, I have small feet).

@SRD - no I didn't bus in - I pinched a colleague's metro off his desk at lunchtime
