Regular readers may remember a fairly (locally) contentious planning application from back in 2010, which was subsequently refused, for the vacant-land next to the Flower Colonies on Slateford Road ...

... well, a revised version of the application was up at Committee this morning and both Gordon Buchan and myself managed to get along to express our continuing opposition to the specifics of this proposal.

It was, once again, rejected by Committee (on a division this time) and I for one would now really welcome a truly constructive engagement between the developer and the local community ... I'm certain a mutually agreeable solution can be found for this site but it will need genuine dialogue.

Oh good, glad to hear it rejected again. Plans were utter utter gash.

Can you briefly give more details? I've tracked two or three links back through the blog you link to, and didn't find much. Also, are the "Flower colonies on Slateford Road" opposite the Caledonian Brewery, or somewhere else?

@fimm you have the right place - Check out http://www.flowercolonies.org.uk
a very surreal place to see, like another century in there. Had to take the car to pick up child from playing at a friends and then onwards to another destination restricted by distance and time - not somewhere you can eralistically own a car either...

Wow - in reading the transport document:
"The travel plan to also include the provision of 50 cycles and spaces in addition to the 38 spaces being provided for the students."
50 giveaway bikes? Do they seriously think they would get used when they are also giving away bus passes too?
"The travel plan to include for the provision of free bus passes for the students for two years. This will be managed by the concierge for the building. The number of passes will be negotiated with the Council."

Thank you for the links. The link to the Flower Colonies site gives a bit more detail on the development.
