@SRD you make me glad I woke up to the sound of a horrible gusty wind, saw the rain and decided - 'bus'

I don't think I would be any less crabby if I'd taken the bus...

amir: I couldn't even see the Pentlands this morning through the blizzardy conditions.

Also: The police/bikestation/etc were in George Square this morning (could just make them out through the swirling hail...) I think they had a tent or something to cower in.

Not a good day to be doing it really :/

It is fun though (kind of). It was getting a bit boring with warmth, sun and no wind. (perhaps not!)

@Nelly "perhaps it was just 'the weather'. "
Nope, not your fault either, I'm afraid it's just self centered idiots who shouldn't be given sharp things let alone a licence to drive, seem to be too many of them around Edinburgh sometimes :-/

I wasn't brave/mad/hardcore enough to venture out today. Congrats to those of you that did...that's mad dedication.

I got all kitted up and headed out. One mile into the ride to work my hub gears failed suddenly, so I returned home. I've spent the day working from home and admiring the weather.

...trouble is my work colleagues all think that I wimped out of coming to work because I wasn't man enough to cope with the conditions.

  13. I was thinking it had clearred up for the ride home, but from up here on the 7th floor some of the sky coming over the castle and Arthur's Seat is looking ominous again...

Yeah I was watching that cloud but I think its broken already!

Damp trackys and trainers for the ride home tonight... Unbridled Joy....

Waterproof socks but they're winter weight so i suspect I'll end up with overly hot feet instead.

Im buying Goretex shoes for this winter
my overshoes did a decent job this morning but some water got through and they took damage in the December crash anyway

I'm cycling tomorrow whatever the weather. Drive home was ok - if sitting in traffic jams for 30 mins is "ok".

No quicker than riding home either - I like driving, actually I like it a lot, but its becoming pointless much of the time in edinburgh.

I can "almost" see why drivers carry all that frustration.[code]

We took 24 kids to Dalkeith country park today. The trees there take enough of the bite out the wind that it would have been tolerable, but unknown to us, the adventure playground bit of the park hasn't been rebuilt from winter hibernation mode, so there wasn't really much for it but admit defeat and come home early.

Shame. I was enjoying the monkey bars.

Only have a teeny ride to the school(took the morning off at t'office so I could do the day trip) so I wasn't badly weatherbeaten.

Our son was supposed to go with his Holiday Club but they called it off and went bowling instead! Sensible if you ask me, though he was in wellies, had his thermals on, etc. I think they dish out bowling shoes at the place anyhow...

As I expected, no snow at riding home time. The wind, on the other hand...! However:

    "
Wintry showers & low temps expected this evening. Squads will be treating all priority 1 roads from 16:15pm & tomorrow from 5am #edintravel

Strong wind against on the way into work and trong wind against on the way home. That's not fair!

Coming from balerno this morning very bad snow and strong easterly wind. Snow gone by juniper green. Wind still raging. Did blow me home as still largely easterly?

Still tough going this morning, with the strong wind against. However the snow shower only last 5 minutes and wasn't followed by rain. Hopefully there'll be an improvement in weather from now on.

Either there's some weather on the way, or you've been practicing with Photoshop's airbrush tool. :>
