CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 16years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

I think taking the pic was an excuse for a breather ;)
I like this sign. It says, in a positive, humourous way 'we expect and encourage cyclists'.
That's fab! and the pull up the hill at the end can be challenge (esp for those of us with trailers, seats, stokers etc)
eh? where is this? AFAIK, pedestrians can walk where they like, excepting motorways.
Astley Ainslie Hospital
Why can't they just simply state Pedestrian Priority - give way to any moving pedestrians unless they invite you to proceed.
Is that for real or a photoshop :-0
If it's for real it's a ridiculous amount of ugly signage and the perpetrators should be ridiculed at length for spending money on stupid signs instead of solutions.
It's real, saw them going up this week , weds I think it was, agreed horse stable door bolted and all that, I've just given up on Princes St. period
I'm guessing but I think we've just seen part of the 5% being spent.
Just making sure in case you missed the first one, second one, etc. ad nauseam. Covers them completely, you have been warned, and you cannot say you did not see them when you crash and burn and then try to sue them!!
I guess their admitting defeat with the suitability of the cobbled section to stand up to the buses then
The section in your first picture is just coming up to the Nat Gallery and Mound, always been absolutely dreadful with buses hogging the entire road and coming out in front of you and sandwiching you. Even worse now with the tram lines to slot into, wunderbar!!
...this seemed to be the most appropriate topic to revive (now I just hope the image works). A wee bit west of Vancouver this helpful/worrying sign informed me that yes, they KNOW there are bloody great drain holes on the cycle path over the bridge - but they aren't going to do anything about it except suggest you not ride into them...

edit: sigh. Sharing on google drive enabled but I think you have to click the link.
Um, I don't understand what danger that sign is alerting people to(?)
Something similar should exist for Meadows' (etc) tactiles!
It's only clear once you're on the bridge - there are drains set into holes in the concrete on the right hand side that extend about 1/3 of the way across the cycleway. They're set into the ground at least 4", and are more or less exactly wide enough to wedge and twist a forward-traveling bike wheel...
Nice!
