I don't seem to be able to change my password to the forum - if I try it does not seem to "take" and I end up having to get a reset password which is a bit like 4hdp0sjkh! which is nice and secure but not very memorable... has anyone else experienced this?

Well spotted cb.
Key post is -

worked okay for me - you have to fill in a firstname / surname otherwise the form is failing I think (but not giving you a message).Successfully changed my password
"
It's far from obvious and clearly a (presumably) non-intended flaw that you can register 'anonymously' but have to put something (a single letter will do) in those fields to change password.
Incidentally I have no access to anyone's password.
'Lost your password' works fine if you know your user name.
IF you've forgotten it (some occasional posters do) I can find it if you know what email address you used originally.

Aha. Yes, that has worked. It has to be said that it isn't terribly obvious... I put junk into the "website" box to ensure my password was changed, and then edited it again!

Ah, that has given me endless trouble.
Fix: Enter first, last names, and enter "Intentionally Blank" for 'Interests' and finally I can set my password.
Didn't imagine I'd have to have any interests to change my password.
