    I have a 1980s brooks b17 narrow, which I finally got round to restoring and fitted to my SS.

    Saddle itself is lovely, much nicer than the Spesh BG one it replaced - however the rear 'brooks' badge is a bit faded out - while this is only cosmetic, the saddle is about the only decent looking thing on my commuting / hacking around bike - and while this it sounds a bit vain, I would like to replace it - I can trawl about on fleabay, but wonder if anyone on CCE has one they might like to sell me?

    merci

    Nelly, Brooks will probably be able to send you a replacement one. They claim that they can replace/repair any of the metal components on any saddle they've ever made.

    Yeah, saw that on their site, but badges were not on the 'spares' list.

    Maybe give them a call monday.

    Ah, I did cast an admiring glance at your saddle(stop giggling, you in the back) when you Spotted us. Can't wait for mine to go from its current gauche shiny state to something more venerable looking.

    How about some metal cleaner like Brasso?

    I've got a 1950s B17N and the badge looks much the same as the new ones.

    @crow - yeah, saw that - says its new, but it does look 'authentic'.

    @bruce - dearie me, what with bikefan thinking I was transgender, and you admiring my saddle, one wonders what zazou is putting in the coffee ;-)

    @wfb - I think something stronger has been used previously, and hence the current state !

    @crowriver - so I got this from ebay - £6.50 - bargain.

    Well yes, except about half an hour after I bought it, Brooks emailed to say they had one in a box of junk and would send it to me gratis !!!

    How was the zebra on the Mile yesterday?

    @bruce

    Probably - if my poor rivetting job holds!

    zebra crossing was fine, no peds around at the beginning, and so many riders coming down - they couldnt fail to see us - so I redirected to the 'non dropped kerb bit' at holyrood - figured I would be more use there.

    Spent my time dragging people / nippers / cargo bikes etc up onlo the pavement and directing them with one of the police and another marshall (forgotten his name, ex police, was at diggers).

    Had to disappear pretty sharpish at the end - wifes birthday today, so presents / cards needed my attention!

    Magic day
